Work to start on Malaga Seville high-speed rail link
Work is due to start soon on the new high-speed Malaga-Seville rail link, which should prove a great boon for both residents of and visitors to southern Spain. All work is to be funded by the Andalucian regional government.
The Junta expects the project to cost at least 500 million Euros; the line will feature both the renovation of existing stretches of line as well as newly built stretches.
Work will be done in stages, and it is expected that the whole route will be upgraded by 2008. Journey times will reduce from the present two and a half hours to only one and a quarter hours.
This reduced journey time should lead to reduced road traffic, both commercial and private.
